Following the success of the Drogheda Moves project the Local Education Committee are undertaking this new initiative for 2018-2020. The Drogheda Grows initiative was launched on Thursday 22nd November in The Barbican where the Mayor, Frank Godfrey opened proceedings.

This community event was attended by local students, teachers, parents and businesses.  The overall aim of the project is to instil awareness, season by season, of the riches in the earth; to plant, to eat and to enjoy good food.  Brendan Guinan from In Season Farm, spoke about growing vegetables and nutritionist Eileen Burke spoke of the importance of eating well.  Students got to sample some in-season treats on the day.

A big well done to runners up Damien McCormack, 1st year and Fiona Agunde, 5th Year, who also received gift vouchers.
