E-Twinning project

The students of Second Year (29) have been participating in an E-Twinning Project with a Spanish school from Leganés, Madrid. In December they started writing letters and emails, and exchanging instant messages with students in this secondary school. There was great excitement as the date of their arrival approached when they would finally meet face to face with their new penpals. The students arrived in Drogheda on 4 February and were hosted by local families. On Tuesday 5, seven lucky students, Francis, Hayley, Gabby, Amy, Andrew, Emmanuel  and Maxwell, went off with the visiting students to show them the Boyne Valley. They visited Monasterboice, Newgrange, Tara and the Battle of the Boyne site. Everyone had a great time despite the typical freezing Irish weather and a little bit of rain.
In the meantime, back at the school, the other class members prepared for the visit to St. Oliver’s on Friday. Buns, cakes and biscuits were baked by Kim and Amy. The Spanish students made several presentations on Spanish life and culture while our students described the school and their daily routine. After our delicious lunch the students were brought on a tour of the school, some played football in the muck and a few enjoyed the fare offered by Rumbles.
To end the day we all went to The Leisure Centre where the Irish students taught the Spanish how to bowl. Long sad goodbyes were said and we learned the Spanish art of two kisses. It was a very enjoyable experience and we hope to see our Spanish friends back here soon.
