Killary Adventure Trip

On 26th August, 100 eager Transition Year students from St. Oilver’s Community College made their way to Killary Adventure Centre in Leenane, Co. Galway for their 2 day induction trip. This is an annual tradition in the TY calendar allowing students to get to know their new classmates through teambuilding exercises and activities. It also challenges them to step out of their comfort zone  and try new things. It’s a major highlight in the year and one students remember fondly when looking back on TY.

Over the course of the two days, students take part in all of the following activities: kayaking, gorge walking, high ropes climbing, orienteering and the infamous Killary Turf Challenge as seen on Ireland’s Fittest Family.  After dinner, there are also evening activities such as dodgeball, giant Jenga and teambuilding exercises.

By the end of a jam-packed trip, all the TY classes and whole year group had become closer. A great experience was had by all promising good things to come for the TY class of 2020.
