ST OLIVERS 7-11 SKERRIES 3-7 12-10-11

Intent on gettting the year off to a good start, our U-14 boys took the game to Skerries in the opening fifteen minutes and displayed some clinical finishing to the leave the visitors with a mountain to climb. Half forwards Conor Whelan and Teige Caffrey were most impressive in an opening quarter that saw five out of the six forwards getting on the scoresheet. When Skerries did venture forward our backs snuffed out their attacks, Full backs Tyrone Thompson and Shane Mc Cann and half backs Luke Gartland and Aaron Kenna were prominent in particular. Although Skerries did mount a challenge in the second twenty, further goals from subs Paul Maguire and Sean Doyle in the final minutes put the result beyond doubt. This was an impressive performance for their first outing but tougher tests lie ahead.
