ST OLIVERS 8-9 O FIACH COLLEGE 6-0 16-11-12

Having suffered successive defeats to Colaiste Ris and Bush PP in our opening two games, a win was a must when O Fiach college travelled to Drogheda. Our lads got off to a great start in this game with early goals from Conor Whelan and Klodjan Likac, and a point from Aaron Kenna. However two goals in reply from the Dundalk men reduced the arrears to a single point. Points from Conor Whelan and Cian Brady and an Aaron kenna goal stretched our advantage, but O Fiach pulled back another goal, leaving St Olivers going in at the break with a three point lead on a scoreline of 3-3 to 3-0.
Having enjoyed a large amount of posession in the opening half, it was important that the forwards were more clinical in the second half, and they duly obliged. Points from Hugh Conaghy, Stephen Mc Evoy and Klodjan Likac and another Aaron Kenna goal put some distance between the teams. O Fiach to their credit, didnt throw in the towel and replied with another goal. Cian Brady had a quiet game in the opening half, but hit a purple patch in the second half, securing ball and notching a further two points to take his personal tally to 0-3. St Oliver's took over from then on; Conor Whelan, Klodjan Likac, Stephen Kells and Ciaran Reilly all hit the net in the final quarter, before man of the match Aaron Kenna finished the scoring for St Olivers with an excellent point from distance. O Fiach scored a consolation penalty before the end, leaving our lads winning by a 15 point margin.
