Young scientist

The lads did a study into what motivates people to play sport. They surveyed over 600 students from 1st to 6th year to find the reasons why they play sport and the reasons why they give up playing sport. They also interviewed Louth players to find out what motivates them to play sport. They found the main two reasons for playing sport were fitness and enjoyment. They also noticed there is a huge drop out of girls playing sport after transitition year, which is due to lack of interest and friends dropping out leading to a domino effect.
Photos attached include lads with Louth players David Bracken and Andy McDonnell, lads with boxing legend Bernard Dunne, and lads with former pupil and Senator James Carroll. Bernard Dunne was really interested in their project because of the sports.
